Paolo Benigno “Bam” A. Aquino IV is a former TV host, former Chairperson of the National Youth Commission of the Philippines, and currently the President of MicroVentures, Inc. which runs the multi-awarded social enterprise, The Hapinoy Program.
Born on May 7, 1977 in Manila, Bam Aquino is the son of Paul Aquino, the youngest brother of the late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. and Melanie Aguirre.
He is married by Mary Fatima “Timi” Gomez.
Education:
He graduated valedictorian in his grade school and high school classes at the Ateneo de Manila University. He also finished as summa cum laude from Ateneo in 1999, with a degree in Management Engineering.
Career:
After his graduation, Bam Aquino joined the special projects group of the ABS-CBN Foundation. In 2001, he was appointed as NYC’s commissioner-at-large. He was also one of the hosts of the TV show Breakfast. It is a youth-oriented early morning show aired in ANC, Studio 23 and The Filipino Channel (TFC).
At 25, Aquino was appointed as chairman of the National Youth Commission. His team has accomplished two projects intended to be implemented yearly: the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations Search (TAYO) and the Presidential Youth Fellowship Program (PYFP).
In 2006, he established a program called Hapinoy, which aimed to help female micro-entrepreneurs secure better incomes for their families.
