Jack Enrile and His Platforms

Born 1958, currently 54, Jack Enrile is the son of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile of Cagayan and the former Ambassador to the Holy See, Cristina Castañer of Manila. He is also married to Province Congresswoman Salvacion “Sally” Santiago, and has two children with her; Sara and Sam, as well as two daughters from a previously relationship; Kriska and Ina.

Jack Enrile attended the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines from Preparatory School until High School. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in English from the Christian Heritage College of El Cajon, California in 1993, as well as a Presidential Masters in Business Administration from Pepperdine University, Malibu California, in 1995.

Enrile has been a Representative of the 1st District of Cagayan in the Congress of the Philippines, in which he served from 1998 to 2007 and 2010 to present. His also the principal author of Food for Filipinos First, Credit Access and Protection Reform, Batas Kasambahay and also the Anti-Monopoly Bill. Alongside his political career Jack Enrile is also the President and CEO of JAKA Investments Corporation and also the President of the Philippine Practical Shooting Association.

Platforms/Advocacy of Jack Enrile

The campaign that Jack Enrile is focussing on for his 2013 bid involves the vision that see Filipinos more engaged in preparing their own food and feeding themselves as opposed to commercialisation and reliance on imported goods. This is proposed through the view of Food Sovereignty. ‘The Food for Filipinos First’ bill is currently aiming to engage provinces to ensure that they are providing enough food for the population and identification of the major food sources that can be grown locally. A majority of the bill focuses on ensuring that the nation can be self-sustaining, both through food and water.

“If we want to achieve food security and sovereignty, we must adopt a rationalized food master plan which will help ensure a steady and affordable supply of food,” he said.

Other platforms he is focusing to pursue are the kasambahay bill, credit card reform, and anti-monopoly.

Cagayan Rep. Jack Enrile has joined also his colleagues who are calling for charter change.

“The sooner there is charter change, the better for our country’s future. I am one of those who favor the amendments of certain provisions in our constitution particularly those that directly impact our agricultural sector,” Jack Enrile said in a statement referring to his provision for food security.
