The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has released the official lists of Pateros local candidates for the coming 2013 local elections.
Local elections will be held in Pateros on May 13, 2013 within the Philippine general election. The voters will elect for the elective local posts in the municipality: the mayor, vice mayor, congressman (or district representative), and the councilors, six in each of the city’s two legislative districts.
Incumbent Mayor Jaime “Joey” Cruz Medina is running for reelection. He is under the ruling of Nacionalista Party. He will be contested by Ike Ponce who is under the ruling of Liberal Party.
For vice-mayoral seat, it’s a race of three official candidates: Ernesto Cortez (NP), Gerald German (LP), and independent candidate Jing Tuazon.
For the seat of the Congressional District of Pateros-Taguig City or Taguig City-Pateros, it’s a race between incumbent Rep. Arnel Cerafica (Liberal Party), and a member of Nacionalista Party Gigi De Mesa. The Congressional District of Taguig City-Pateros is composed of the entire municipality of Pateros, and barangays of Taguig City including Bagumbayan, Bambang, Calzada, Hagonoy, Ibayo-Tipas, Ligid-Tipas, Lower Bicutan, New Lower Bicutan, Napindan, Palingon, San Miguel, Santa Ana, Tuktukan, Ususan, and Wawa.
The Municipality of Pateros is a first-class municipality in Metro Manila. It is bordered by Pasig City to the north, Makati City to the west, and Taguig City to the south.
This small town is famous for its duck-raising industry and especially for producing balut (a Filipino delicacy that is boiled duck egg), red salty eggs, “inutak” (a local rice cake), and “alfombra” (a locally-made footwear with a carpet-like fabric on its top surface).
