The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has released the lists of Pasig City local candidates for the coming 2013 local elections.
The Pasig local elections will be held in the City of Pasig on May 13, 2013 within the Philippine general election. Registered voters will elect for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, congressman, and the councilors, six in each of the city’s two legislative districts.
The Pasig City mayoral seat in the coming May 2013 midterm polls will be a race of three candidates: Maribel Eusebio (NP). Maribel, 42, is the sister of Camarines Sur 1st District Representative Rolando Andaya, Jr. She will face Ismael Mejia and Wainwright Rivera for the mayoralty contest in May 2013.
The vice-mayoral position is a race of four qualified candidates: Rodrigo Asilo (NP), and three independent candidates Iyo Christian Bernardo, Vicente Fabella, and Memencio San Juan.
For congressional district of Pasig City, it’s a race between incumbent Rep. Roman Romulo (LP), and Jun Salatandre (UNA).
Once the former capital of the province of Rizal, the City of Pasig is now one of the city-municipalities of Metro Manila. It is bordered on the west by Quezon City and Mandaluyong City; to the north by Marikina City; to the south by Makati City, Pateros, and Taguig City; and to the east by Antipolo City, the municipality of Cainta and Taytay in the province of Rizal.
Tourist destinations in Pasig City include Pasig City Hall, Mutya ng Pasig Public Market, Plaza Bonifacio, Concepcion Mansion: Pasig Museum, Eugenio Lopez Foundation, Inc., Rainforest Park, Ortigas Center (Pasig-Mandaluyong), and Tiendesitas.
