The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has released the lists of Malabon City local candidates for the coming 2013 local elections.
Local elections will be held in Malabon City on May 13, 2013 within the Philippine general election. The voters will elect for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, congressman (or district representative), and the councilors, six in each of the city’s two legislative districts.
The posts for congressman and mayor of Malabon City were both unchallenged. Mayor Antolin “Lenlen” Oreta III and Rep. Josephine Veronique “Jaye” Lacson-Noel are among the members of Team Malabon (TM), the only local ticket in the city with a complete slate, is led by the unchallenged.
Team Malabon’s vice mayoral candidate is Councilor Edwin Dimagiba. He is challenged by three opponents: Paulo Oreta, the mayor’s cousin who is running as an independent; Jeannie Sandoval of the United Nationalist Alliance; and incumbent Vice Mayor Diosdado Cunanan, also an independent.
The City of Malabon is one of the cities and municipalities that make up Metro Manila. It is part of the sub-region of Metro Manila informally called CAMANAVA.
Caloocan lies to the south and east, Navotas to the west, and Valenzuela to the north. Malabon also borders the town of Obando in the province of Bulacan to the northwest.
