Comelec inspects voters list, voting centers in Kalinga

TABUK CITY, Kalinga, Nov. 26 (PIA) - - The Commission on Elections (Comelec), after the hearing of new applicants for registration and those wanting to transfer precinct last November 19, will conduct inspection on precincts in the entire province this week to check registered voters’ lists and voting centers to ensure that everything is on order and in place before the May 13, 2013 synchronized elections.

Rogelio Bagtang, acting provincial election supervisor, said personnel from the Election and Barangay Affairs department of Comelec central office will arrive Wednesday this week to check on list of voters, clustering of precincts including polling places, and facilities.

The Comelec has approved the transfer of registered voters to new precincts created. In Tabuk City, Bagtang said some voters transferred from Lacnog Elementary School located at sitio Butbut in Lacnog to the primary school in sitio Dananao also in barangay Lacnog, the new created precinct.

In Balbalan, he said, registered voters from Nawoy, Balantoy transferred from Bulo, Balantoy to a newly created precinct at the Nawoy Day Care center.

Comelec reports there are 8,314 applicants in the province where 7,457 are new registrants and 857 have applied for transfer. Tabuk registered the highest number of new registrants with 3,509 and 355 applicants for transfer.

Kalinga has a total number of registered voters of 136,397 where Balbalan has 9,872; Lubuagan – 8,312; Pasil – 7,685; Pinukpuk – 21,094; Rizal – 9,988; Tabuk City – 61,212;Tanudan – 7,733; and Tinglayan – 10,397.

In the 2010 national and local elections, Kalinga had 120,709 registered voters, 795 precincts, and 219 clustered precincts.

In another development, the Tanudan Comelec office was also established at the Department of Health building at barangay Se-et. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
