Results dribbled in from the Tanauan City Barangay Elections 2013 on Monday, October 28, 2013. Hundreds of candidates vying for barangay chairmen or barangay captains and barangay councilors for Sangguniang Barangay posts are awaiting for the official results of the 2013 barangay elections. The entire city of Tanauan in the Province of Batangas has a total of 48 barangays. Thus, a need to elect 48 barangay captains and 294 barangay councilors is certain.
The City of Tanauan is a first class city in the province of Batangas. According to the latest census, it has a population of 152,393 inhabitants in 30, 354 households. It was incorporated as a city under Republic Act No. 9005, signed on February 2, 2001, and ratified on March 10, 2001.
The city is bordered by Calamba City, Laguna, to the north, Tagaytay City, Cavite, to the northwest, Talisay to the west, Santo Tomas to the east, and the towns of Balete and Malvar to the south.
Dubbed as “The Premiere City of CALABARZON”, Tanauan City is politically subdivided into 48 barangays.
