Results dribbled in from the 2013 Bayugan City Barangay Elections on Monday, October 28, 2013. Hundreds of candidates vying for barangay chairmen or barangay captains and barangay councilors for Sangguniang Barangay posts are awaiting for the official results of the barangay elections. The entire city of Bayugan has a total of 43 barangays.
Bayugan is a city in the province of Agusan del Sur. According to the NSO Census of 2010, the city has a population of 99,361 distributed in a total land area of 505.00 square kilometers (194.98 sq mi). The City is classified as a third class city according to The Local Government Code of 1991 (Republic Act No. 7160).
The city is considered as the “cut-flower capital” and “The Growth Center” of the province of Agusan del Sur due to its lucrative cut flower industry. According to Wikipedia, the city’s climate, especially in the highland barangays, is conducive to high yield cut-flower production. The city is also one of the major producers of rice and vegetables in the province, even providing the needs of neighboring municipalities and provinces.
Bayugan City is part of the 1st District of Agusan del Sur. It is politically subdivided into 43 barangays.
